Project Overview
Our feasibility study for the Healthcare Development Project (HCDP) of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh was a comprehensive assessment of a nationwide healthcare initiative. The project included a 250-bed Teaching Hospital (upgradeable to 500-bed teaching hospital for Bangladesh University of Heath Science) and 10 Urban Health Centres in and around Dhaka, and a 200–bed (upgradeable to 300-bed) Regional Hospital in Sirajganj, 30-75 bed Sub-regional hospitals (upgradeable to 100-bed) in Bogra, Pabna, Dinajpur and Thakurgaon, and 4 Peripheral Health Centres linked to the Sub-regional Hospitals. The cost of the project was estimated EUR 38.60 million (excluding the cost of lands and existing structures).
Project Insights
This landmark study laid the groundwork for one of the most significant healthcare infrastructure developments in Bangladesh, creating a network of integrated healthcare facilities across the country. The study was carried out in association with Simed International bv., The Netherlands.
